Use Chalkenso with Claude
Connect your own Claude to Chalkenso and Claude can read your courses and what learners struggled with, and send drafts back: lesson revisions, revision plans, check questions, feedback themes and term reports. Nothing changes until someone reviews the draft in Chalkenso. Claude runs on your own Claude plan, so there is no AI markup.
Connect it once
Claude (web, desktop or mobile): open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste
https://chalkenso.com/mcp
and sign in to Chalkenso when Claude asks. You choose which organisation it may use (one per connection) and whether it may send drafts or only read.
Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http chalkenso https://chalkenso.com/mcp
then run /mcp in Claude Code and sign in.
Working with it
- From Chalkenso: every AI task has Open in Claude (on a task: Send to Claude). Claude opens with a short prompt naming the lesson, task or report. The page in Chalkenso waits ("Claude is reading the brief…") and shows the draft as soon as it arrives. You keep editing meanwhile.
- From Claude: ask in your own words: "Which lessons in Web Development II need attention?", "Draft plans for my open tasks", "Summarise the autumn term". Claude answers from Chalkenso's numbers and ends with a link to review each draft.
- Reviewing: a revision opens in the lesson's before and after view (Use this version puts it in the editor; you save as usual). Plans go into the plan box, summaries into the report. If the lesson changed since Claude wrote its draft, you are told. Proposals lists every draft waiting for review, with Assign and Discard.
What Claude can see and do
Claude sees only what you can see in Chalkenso, in the one organisation you connected it to. If an owner or admin limited your access to some courses or groups, Claude is limited the same way: an instructor of one group gets that group's feedback and tasks and reads its lessons, but not course-wide answers, course health or term reports (those are for whole courses and for owners and admins).
| It can read | It can propose (never apply) |
|---|---|
| Courses, curricula and lessons | A revised lesson |
| A revision brief per lesson: sections learners stopped at or found hardest, wrong check answers and their misconceptions, open feedback, whether the last revision helped | A revision plan for a task |
| Course health: which lessons need attention and why | A check question |
| Tasks and the feedback they came from | Themes in learners' written answers |
| Term reports and the numbers for any period | A term report summary, or a whole draft report |
It never gets learner names (learners are "Learner 1, 2, …"), learners' private notes, anyone's reading data, learner links, emails or keys. Every figure in a summary is checked against Chalkenso's own numbers: a summary with a figure Chalkenso didn't count is sent back. Nothing is published, shared or deleted through Claude.
Disconnecting
- You: Profile → Connected AI apps → Disconnect. It stops at once.
- Owners and admins: Settings → Use with Claude: everyone's connections (with Disconnect) and what Claude did in the last 90 days. Turning Allow "Use with Claude" off pauses every connection.
- Someone who leaves the team loses their connections with them.
Other ways to use AI
Owners and admins can add the organisation's own Anthropic API key in Settings → AI: AI then also runs inside Chalkenso (Revise with AI, Draft with AI), billed by Anthropic to your organisation. The same page shows what it spent this month.
