The agreement between us

In plain words: what you get, how paying and price changes work, how to leave, and what stays yours.

Effective from 18 October 2026.

Who we are

Chalkenso is run by Boštjan Cigan, a sole trader in Slovenia ("we"). These terms are the agreement between us and the organisation that uses Chalkenso, and everyone who signs in to work for it ("you"). You accept them when you create an account or an organisation, or choose a plan. Questions: info@chalkenso.com.

The service

Chalkenso is software for planning courses, teaching them to groups and improving them from what happens in class: lessons, notes, learner feedback, insights, and AI drafts that you approve. These terms cover the hosted service on this website. The self-hosted local edition comes under its own licence, and the free tools on the website are offered as they are, without an account.

AI drafts are suggestions, and they can be wrong. Nothing reaches your learners until someone on your team approves it, and your organisation is responsible for what it publishes.

Chalkenso is made for work: training providers, academies, schools, companies and independent trainers. Where consumer law gives you more rights than these terms, those rights apply.

Accounts and organisations

  • Each person has their own account, with true details. Keep your password to yourself, and turn on two-factor authentication if you can. You are responsible for what happens under your account; if you think someone else got in, change your password and write to info@chalkenso.com.
  • Everything your team makes belongs to an organisation. Whoever creates one becomes its owner, and confirms they may accept these terms for it.
  • Owners and admins manage the plan and the team; owners can also delete the organisation. Seats are everyone on the team, guest instructors included, and unused invites.
  • Learners don't need an account: they read through private links. Your organisation decides who gets a link, and shares it only with its own learners.

Plans and paying

  • Plans: Solo, Studio, Team and Academy differ in how many people teach, how many groups run at the same time, and how much help comes with them. Every feature is in every plan. The pricing page has the current prices; Settings → Plan shows yours.
  • The free first group: on Solo you can teach one course to one group for free, for up to 90 days, without a card. When it ends, you choose a plan to keep adding people and groups. If you don't, nothing is charged.
  • The guided pilot: one course, one group, 90 days and three check-ins with Boštjan Cigan, for a one-off price agreed before it starts. It doesn't renew. If you continue on a plan, what you paid for the pilot is credited to it.
  • Paying: prices are in US dollars. A plan is paid in advance for each period, a month or a year, and renews at the end of it until you cancel. Paying yearly costs ten months' price for twelve months.
  • Academy and services: Academy, and services such as a course review or a workshop, are agreed with you in writing. Where that agreement says something different from these terms, the agreement applies.

Price changes

  • We tell you at least 60 days before any price change, by email to your organisation's owners and in the app.
  • A new price applies from your next billing period that starts at least 60 days after we told you. A period you have already paid for keeps its price: if you pay yearly, your price holds until your year ends.
  • If you don't want the new price, cancel before it applies, and you pay nothing more.
  • Founding customers keep their price. If Settings → Plan shows a founding price, price changes don't reach you while you stay on that plan. If you move to another plan, or leave and come back later, the prices at that time apply.

Cancelling

An owner or admin can cancel at any time, in Settings → Plan. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for: until then everything keeps working, and after it nothing more is charged. The part of a period you have already paid for isn't refunded.

We can end the agreement too, by telling you at least 60 days before, for example if we stop offering Chalkenso. You then get back what you paid for any time after the end. For serious misuse, see Acceptable use below.

After you leave

Your organisation leaves when its plan ends without a new one: you cancelled, or the free first group ended.

  • Your learners' pages stay readable for 90 days after that, so a group can finish its course.
  • We keep your organisation's data for 12 months, so you can come back and carry on where you left off.
  • Then we delete it. We email your owners before we do.
  • You can export your courses at any time: while you use Chalkenso, and during those 12 months.
  • An owner can delete the organisation sooner, in Settings → General, or ask us to. Deleting happens at once and can't be undone.

Your content

Your courses, lessons and notes, and everything your team and your learners write in Chalkenso, stay your organisation's. You allow us to store, copy, show and process them only as far as we need to run Chalkenso for you: to show lessons to your learners, to make the AI drafts you ask for, and to keep backups. That permission ends when the content is deleted. We never use any data in Chalkenso to train models, AI or otherwise; see the privacy policy.

You make sure you may use what you put in: it is yours, or you have permission. Where it includes personal data about learners or your team, your organisation decides what happens to it, and we handle it on its behalf. Chalkenso itself (the software, its design and its name) stays ours; you may use it under these terms.

Acceptable use

Use Chalkenso for teaching and course work, and within the law. Don't:

  • put in anything illegal, or anything you have no right to use;
  • harass, deceive or harm learners or anyone else, or share their data without the right to;
  • try to get into accounts or data that aren't yours, test our security without asking us first, or spread malware;
  • overload the service, or read it with automated tools other than the API and the Claude connector we offer;
  • share one account between several people, or resell Chalkenso without our agreement.

If someone breaks these rules, we may remove the content, or pause the account or the organisation. We tell you first and give you time to put it right, unless the harm is serious or the law makes us act at once.

Availability and support

We work to keep Chalkenso running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will never be unavailable or never have a fault. When we plan work that could interrupt you, we try to tell you first.

Support is by email, at info@chalkenso.com; we answer on working days, as soon as we can. What each plan includes with Boštjan Cigan (onboarding, check-ins, hours) is on the pricing page.

Liability

As far as the law allows:

  • we aren't liable for indirect losses, such as lost profit, lost business or lost opportunities;
  • our total liability is at most what your organisation paid us in the 12 months before the event that caused the loss;
  • if someone makes a claim against us because of content you put in, or because you broke these terms, your organisation is responsible for it.

None of this limits liability for harm caused on purpose or by gross negligence, for injury to a person, or for anything else the law doesn't allow to be limited. Keep your own copy of what matters to you: you can export it at any time.

Governing law

Slovenian law applies to these terms. If we disagree about something, let's talk first: write to info@chalkenso.com. If that doesn't settle it, the competent court in Slovenia decides. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the law where you live, and you can also turn to the courts there.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we tell your owners by email and in the app at least 30 days before the change applies, and say what changes. Price changes always get the 60 days above. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the change applies; if you carry on using Chalkenso after that, the new terms apply. Small fixes that change nothing for you, like a clearer sentence, we make without notice. The date at the top shows when this version took effect.

And finally

  • If a part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies.
  • You can pass this agreement to someone else only with our consent. We may pass it to whoever takes over Chalkenso, and tell you when we do.
  • These terms are in English and Slovenian, and say the same. If the two ever differ, the Slovenian version applies.
